Founded in Klang, Malaysia, Kee Hiong Bak Kut Teh is the original Klang-style Bak Kut Teh since 1940s.
The origin of “Bak Kut Teh” can be traced back to Mr. Lee Boon Teh of South Klang, Malaysia. In the 1940s, Mr Lee came up with a recipe for stewed “Bak Kut” (bone and meat), by adding seven Chinese medicinal herbs.
The flavourful herbal broth was loved by many of Mr Lee’s customers, who subsequently nicknamed him “Bak Kut Teh”, after his first name, Boon Teh. Overtime, his regulars started using this nickname to refer to his soup, which we now fondly know as Bak Kut “Tea”, due to the identical Chinese pronunciation.
His son, Mr. Lee Eng Hin, created the brand name Kee Hiong in the 60s. Working on improving his dad’s legacy, he added more than 10 herbs to it, creating the legendary “Kee Hiong Bak Kut Teh” that we know of today.
Kee Hiong Klang Bak Kut Teh is now available at 7 outlets across Malaysia and Australia.
